We live in Moscow, a huge megapolis with a bunch of environmental problems. One way to improve the environmental situation in the city could be the creation of green roofs. According to our estimates in Moscow it would be possible to make up to 20 million m2 of green roofs! All over the world benefits, that green roofs bring, are appreciated but in Russia, almost no one is engaged. Now in Moscow there are several houses with green roofs, but they are either private homes or business centers, so green roofs are not available to a wide range of Muscovites.
Now we are completing the design of a new entrance to the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University, construction is scheduled for May-June 2019. And as a part of our project, we want to make two wooden pavilions with green roofs, which will be available for everyone to visit.
To our opinion, the botanical garden is a place that not only houses a rich collection of plants, but also teaches the correct attitude to nature. This is especially important for the university botanical garden, where various classes are held, where young people get acquainted with science. Our Botanical Garden is the oldest in Russia, but it should be an example and a place where you can learn about the latest technologies in the field of nature conservation. Therefore, during the reconstruction of the entrance, we would like to use green technologies as much as possible: green roofs, solar panels, autonomous heating on wood waste, which are collected here in the Garden.
This reconstruction project will be implemented only for charitable donations. Unfortunately, we were not given budget funds for its implementation. But we have already found and continue to look for caring people and companies who would also like to contribute to nature conservation.
We hope that thanks to this project more people will take care of nature and our city will become even better.
